Vanves-Malakoff railway station
The Vanves - Malakoff station is a French railway station on the line from Paris-Montparnasse to Brest, located on the territory of the municipality of Vanves, (Albert-Culot square, 92170, Vanves) near Malakoff, in the department of Hauts-de-Seine, in the Ile-de-France region.
It is a station of the French National Railway Company (SNCF) served by the Transilien line N trains.
The Transilien line N, more often simply referred to as line N, is a suburban train line that serves the west of the Île-de-France region. It links Paris-Montparnasse to Mantes-la-Jolie, Dreux and Rambouillet.
Launched in 2004, the N line is 117 kilometres long. Operated by the SNCF, it now carries an average of 117,000 passengers every weekday.
Opened in 1840, the Paris Rive Gauche-Versailles line crossed the territory of the town without stopping there. She reached Chartres on July 12, 1849, Rennes in May 1857 and finally Brest in 1865.
The station of Vanves - Malakoff was put into service on October 1, 1883.
This first station was demolished around 1934 and was replaced by the present Pont-Gare built on the plans of the architect Jean Philippot, who planned for passengers from both cities to have access from both sides. Vanves and Malakoff therefore each have their own entrance.
This line was electrified in 1937.
