Jean-André Louis BRUNET was born on February 3, 1803 in Valence/Drôme/France. He was a pupil of Saint-Cyr from 1819 to 1821. He was married in 1835. He had 3 children: Louis Arthur General Brunet (Brigadier General) (1837-1904), Richard Louis Brunet (1838-1907) and Marie Louise Brunet (1847-1853). He was elevated to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honor in October 6, 1837, to the rank of Officer in 18 September 1847 and to the rank of Commander in August 10, 1853. He received also the "Grand-croix de l'Ordre de Saint-Grégoire-le-Grand" (Vatican). He died at the Assault of Malakoff in Crimea on June 18, 1855 at the age of 52 years.
